Monthly Meow: July Pt.2

Updated: 2 days ago

Time flies when you're having fun (and when you're as busy as I am!). I can't believe it's already the end of July—2020 is moving so fast, which is probably a good thing, because I'm not sure I can take whatever else it plans to throw our way. Things are changing over at CCB, but this newsletter is focused solely on my own work and updates, and I have some exciting ones for you today!

First of all, thank you for clicking this post and spending a few minutes with me on your lunch break, your bus to work... or on the toilet (hey, I'm not judging!).

You've probably already seen my cool new mobile phone cover on Facebook, branded with the CCB logo and a lovely white/grey marble finish. If you haven't, here's a photo. I'm in love, and it's far more durable than I expected it to be. But once again I'm drifting to CCB-related news because I fear I'm turning into a workaholic! Argh, back to it...

If you're in Kindle Unlimited, you have a limited time left to read The Universe Doesn't Give A Sh*t About Your Book before it no longer becomes an Amazon exclusive e-book—I'll be opting in to wider distribution for my non-fiction (self-publishing guide) from August 29th, so if you've got this on your TBR, you may want to bump it up a few spots to take advantage whilst you still can.

After the 29th, the e-book will begin to appear on a variety of other digital platforms including Nook, Kobo and Apple, which is exciting!

Furthermore, the Finding Pandora individual e-books are now back and available through all your favourite stores! I opted to re-upload the individual e-books this month to allow my readers to enjoy the series one instalment at a time rather than being forced to purchase the complete collection (all four e-books) at once. Whilst it would save you money and be a bit more convenient to go for the bundle, if you're new to fantasy or my books overall, you can now try book one for free on a variety of e-readers, including Amazon Kindle. I use Draft 2 Digital's handy tools to circulate my e-books, so you can find your favourite platform here and choose the retailer you need. It won't cost you a penny.

For 48 hours this month, I was blessed with yet another #1 spot on Amazon.com with the first book (World) after making these changes. It got over 400 downloads in just 1 day (WOW!)... thank you to everyone in the US who chose to give Pandora a try, and to everyone else worldwide since then who show me the book is still in high demand all these years later.

Similarly, I've also introduced omnibus box sets for this series, which I'm pleased to also offer FREE through my website's mailing list. If you haven't yet joined, go ahead and subscribe to get updates from me by e-mail to receive the first omnibus (books 1-2) FREE. If you then leave me a review, you can claim the second omnibus (books 3-4) FREE too! That's the FULL Finding Pandora collection for zero financial investment in exchange for a few extra minutes of your time and your brutally honest feedback. Yep, positive or negative... your review will still count.

I talk a bit about this offer in my video below, which premiers on YouTube 28/07/2020.

I recently announced on Facebook and my blog that I've missed Arriette Monroe; I've decided to return to the Pandora universe for a further four books (plus you guys have been asking for more). Yes! The Resurrection of Pandora will hopefully be released in 2021 when I've done some re-writing and editing of the manuscripts, which I know you hardcore Pandora fans will be thrilled to hear. Re-producing four novels is a huge task, but I'm pumped and ready for the challenge. I've missed the characters and the magical elements.

In fact, I'm so excited I gave the Finding Pandora: The Complete Collection paperback an upgrade with some colourful title text rather than the plain black font it had before. I prefer it, and love how well it blends and compliments the other electric colours. You should start to see this version appear on the retailer platforms within a week or two, and the e-book covers are already sporting it.

I'm making steady progress on the Resurrection, too, which is stunning considering how busy the CCB side of things is right now. Covid-19 prompted authors worldwide to get stuck in to their writing and publishing, so I've never been busier as a copy-editor or publisher. I'm not complaining, but I do miss being able to write for a few hours every day. I've purposely left my calendar emptier towards the back end of 2020 so I can enjoy NaNoWriMo (which I plan to use for the Pandora project) and also Christmas.

As we veer into August, I'm looking forward to a fresh start in my new bullet journal. I've never been one for themes because I'm not particularly artistic, nor can I draw. But, I dabble and I experiment. So, I've opted for a simple quote spread to kick start the journal and I'm trying to learn to draw some Studio Ghibli characters. If they are any good, I may debut them in August.

More than anything, I'm pleased to have helped create a bunch of new young authors through my work with Low Ash Primary School this month, though. Their Year 6 students managed to write some survival stories during lockdown, which they collected and sent to me for a book they wanted to produce. It's a role I play each year with this school and I was so sad not to be attending in person for a writing workshop (we play all kinds of wacky games!). But, Covid made that impossible. Instead, I managed to publish a short story collection for them which is available on Amazon, Survival of the Fittest. Royalties will act as a voucher for the school's next workshop with me (when the government allow it).

This is the latest unboxing video I did for the school - they ordered a few copies for their library.

Of course, this wouldn't be a Monthly Meow without mentioning my next release, which is the sequel to my 2017 bestseller. Noah Finn & the Art of Conception will release on September 1st as planned, and I have tons of amazing BETA feedback to sift through before then. Thank you so much to everyone who helped out. You've given me lots to consider, letting me know I'm not going to disappoint the Noah fans out there. Pre-orders are now available in paperback and e-book across a variety of platforms. You can check out your options here. And if you need to read book one beforehand, you can find a handy link to your favourite store here.

I also want to give a shout out to two authors who read and offered some glowing feedback for the new release, which you can read below:. I'm lucky to have this level of support from so many talented writers and avid readers.

“I didn't know it would be full of spiritual vibes and such a wonderful new take on Scrooge - wow, well done! Really enjoyed it, Rachael.”

David Knight, author of A Pocket Full of God and Leave the Body Behind.

“The messages I take from your story are: We can put our mistakes right if we listen to others. Religion has caused so much trouble in the wrong hands. If only it were true that we could turn the clock back and start again. Well done, Rachael.”

Gillian Atack, author of The Storm Within the Rose

Before I say goodbye for this month and let you get on with your day, I wanted to openly announce my goals for this month and thank my YouTube viewers for helping me to reach 140 subscribers (the most I've ever had... YouTube is hard!).

After updating my website and refreshing the look and feel, injecting more personality into the design, I wanted to give as much back as I could to thank everyone for their ongoing support, especially after Covid-19. My readers have remained loyal and excited despite their own struggles. So there are now FREE worksheets, kids activity sheets and wallpapers to download via this link, so go ahead and help yourself—feel welcome to share them with friends, family and fellow writers. Thank you all. <3

You can subscribe here if you'd like to join me on YouTube too! Let's reach 150 together!

Before I leave you to get on with your day, here are my monthly goals (which I'm announcing to help keep me accountable!). In August, I hope to achieve the following:

  • Draft The Resurrection of Pandora (book one)

  • Apply the BETA feedback to Noah Finn & the Art of Conception

  • Journal every day for my well-being and to document my progress and successes.

  • +2 private/personal goals

What are some of your goals and how do you achieve them? I'd love to know!

In the meantime, wish me luck (I'm going to need it)!

Thank you so much for spending time with me today - I really do appreciate all your support, interest, time and attention. I'll leave you with a recommended read, Girl On Fire, which helped me massively this month as I contemplated some important changes over at CCB. I gave it 5* on Amazon and a glowing review because it truly deserves it. A #girlboss book at its finest. I hope you find it helpful too.

Stay safe out there. I'll catch you in my next update. <3
